Why wait until 2 am,
wearing formal pajamas
in an insomniac’s basement
and staying up way past bedtime,
for just 2 minutes on stage
with an audience small enough to
fit inside a breadbox,
small enough to count on a pirate’s limbs
small enough to pacify wildlife?
Because I’d do anything for attention…
